Oh hey guys! Long time no blog...and there's a reason for that. I've been a very busy girl. Between school stuff, just finishing NaNoWriMo, cosplay, and just downright laziness.
My summer was fun. I went to Ocean City for the first time! Which is kind of sad since I've been living in Maryland for, like, a really long time. My alter ego dated a guy and we broke up on my best friend's birthday. It lasted like 4 months. (Don't make me explain). BALTIMORE COMIC CON!! It's my first con. I really wanted to go in cosplay but my fishnets ripped as I was walking out the door. Ughhhh. I hate when that happens. I was gonna go as Zatanna. But next year, I swear I'll go in cosplay. As Zatanna or Harley Quinn or X-23 or a Rule 63 Joker. I'm not sure. If I'm going both days, I'm definitely going as Zatanna for one of the days. I got a shit ton of comics. I spend my money on comic books now. I met Stan Lee and I died of awesomeness. First con and I meet Stan Lee? SWAG. The last Harry Potter movie came out. I went to the midnight showing with my sisters and dad. My dad slept the whole way through it -_-. One of my sisters kept calling Draco her boo boo. We got home at around 3 am and I was crying my eyes out. This is my childhood, people. Smallville aired for the last time on The CW the same day, so I was pretty damn emotional. Hurricane Irene was horrible. But it was also the reason that school started on a Wednesday. They closed it down on Monday and Tuesday. Memorable things: Arizona and Mountain Dew Wasted. One Direction obsessed. (I've liked them since they were on the X-Factor, but an obsession had just kicked in)
School was fun the first week because we didn't do anything but introduction stuff and I get to see my friends again. I missed them so much. I hate math. I've always been good at math until some mf decided to mix the alphabets with it. I love my History class. My teacher is so much fun. I sang Valerie by Amy Winehouse for an audition in chorus (RIP Ms. Winehouse. You will be missed).
On Halloween my school had this 2 week mini semester for my grade called "Facing History and Ourselves". I loved it. It was a really good experience and I learned a lot. We learned about The Holocaust, The Civil Rights Movement, and basically man's inhumanity to man". Instead of having regular classes, we had 3 out of the 4 periods a day made into lectures. he other periods would be PE and Math. You stayed with one lecture group for the whole 2 weeks. We read a book called "The Messenger" by Lois Lowry. Which is a companion to "The Giver" and "Gathering Blue". Two books that I LOVE. We watched a lot of movies. Some ridiculous (The Wave) and some I loved (Freedom Writers and Swing Kids). We went to The Holocaust Memorial Museum and The MLJK memorial. That was really fun. The Holocaust museum made me cry. Hitler was a cruel, cruel man. We also went to a Blacks In Wax Museum. It made me cry because there was this one room on slave ships and what the owners would do to them. WHY IS HUMANITY SO CRUEL? But my favourite part was meeting Mr. Leo Bretholz. He is a Holocaust survivor. Meeting him and seeing him give a lecture telling his story on how he survived and how he was on the run for 7 years, was absolutely amazing. That man had to go though everything I saw in that museum. His family was killed, he was put in fatal conditions. he was funny too. He made jokes. He was pretty cool for a 90 year-old. I guess I shouldn't complain the next time somebody forgot to turn the AC on leaving me in the heat. It's nothing compared to what he went through. He has a book called "Leap Into Darkness" Which I really want to read. We also heard a lecture from people from the NAACP. My former teacher was actually a participant of the Civil Rights Movement when she was in Dallas back in the 60s. She marched with signs and everything. At the end of the two weeks, all the seminar groups made little presentations of what we learned. We had to decorate a letter to make a sign that says 'Let's Give Peace A Chance". People had skits and performances. My group made a speech while me and two other girls hummed "We Are The World." Then Zuri and I sang "Lean On Me'. There's something about singing on stage in front of your whole grade that gets to a person. I LOVE that feeling. I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't like how people complimented my singing. I like compliments. They're nice and they make me feel more loved...idk. I just wish we had FHAO again. It was really fun.
For my best friend's (JAZMIN!/Jazzy/Pammy/Pamela/Red/Ivy/Shay/Shayera) birthday (5 November), I drew her a picture of Rainbow Dash (have I mentioned that I now have an obsession with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic?), a chibi Kid Flash, and a copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire that I wrapped in red and yellow yarn. Which,if you think about it symbolizes something. Red and Yellow--Flash and Kid Flash colours, AND the colours of Gryffindor house!(We're both Gryffindors)
Chalant (If you get this reference/ship, I will share the Nutella that's beside me right now) <3333
Now, I'm supposed to be reading a book called "A Tale Of Two Cities" by one, Mr. Charles Dickens. I'm just gonna come right out and say this...I HATE THIS BOOK. I'm reading it for English class and I hate it. It's so frustrating and hard to understand. Old English? Yeah, no thanks. I have to go on SparkNotes instead. (as I said, I'm lazy) My teacher actually knows that half of my class isn’t reading the book and just goes on SparkNotes instead. she’ll be like,”The wine spilling symbolizes blood. They said that in the book. I bet you SparkNotes didn’t say that” I think it did actually.
So instead of reading that book, I'm here writing this, with SparkNotes and Tumblr open on other tabs while waiting for my nail polish to dry.
The people on my lunch table decided that we would have rainbow nails. Like one person has red, then another has orange, then another has yellow, and so on... Since there are 8 people all together in my lunch table and 7 colours, we're doing the cloud as well. I'm gonna be the cloud with white nail polish since people already took red and blue, and those are the only colours of the rainbow I have in good nail polish brands. I usually don't like white nail polish, idk why, but I just don't. My favourite nail polishes are:
Sidewalkers by NYC Color
[Black] Blasted by OPI
Leaf Him At The Altar by Sephora by OPI
One point during the summer, I had all 3 of those colours on :)
My grandparents from the Philippines are currently staying with us. This is great because the last time I saw them, I was 7. They also brought back goodies from the Philippines (foods, candies, t-shirts with swag, more superhero swag). I use swag as cool, Something We Asians Got and Stuff We All Get (credit to Michael Scott...who I miss so much)
Also I cut my hair. It used to be down to, like my mid-back, now it's shoulder length. I cut off about a foot. I haven't had my hair this short since 2nd grade. This feels awesome!
So yeah, until next time,
xoxo,
Micah :)
