Life, Nerdery, and Charles Dickens

Oh hey guys! Long time no blog...and there's a reason for that. I've been a very busy girl. Between school stuff, just finishing NaNoWriMo, cosplay, and just downright laziness.

My summer was fun. I went to Ocean City for the first time! Which is kind of sad since I've been living in Maryland for, like, a really long time. My alter ego dated a guy and we broke up on my best friend's birthday. It lasted like 4 months. (Don't make me explain). BALTIMORE COMIC CON!! It's my first con. I really wanted to go in cosplay but my fishnets ripped as I was walking out the door. Ughhhh. I hate when that happens. I was gonna go as Zatanna. But next year, I swear I'll go in cosplay. As Zatanna or Harley Quinn or X-23 or a Rule 63 Joker. I'm not sure. If I'm going both days, I'm definitely going as Zatanna for one of the days. I got a shit ton of comics. I spend my money on comic books now. I met Stan Lee and I died of awesomeness. First con and I meet Stan Lee? SWAG. The last Harry Potter movie came out. I went to the midnight showing with my sisters and dad. My dad slept the whole way through it -_-. One of my sisters kept calling Draco her boo boo. We got home at around 3 am and I was crying my eyes out. This is my childhood, people. Smallville aired for the last time on The CW the same day, so I was pretty damn emotional. Hurricane Irene was horrible. But it was also the reason that school started on a Wednesday. They closed it down on Monday and Tuesday. Memorable things: Arizona and Mountain Dew Wasted. One Direction obsessed. (I've liked them since they were on the X-Factor, but an obsession had just kicked in)

School was fun the first week because we didn't do anything but introduction stuff and I get to see my friends again. I missed them so much. I hate math. I've always been good at math until some mf decided to mix the alphabets with it. I love my History class. My teacher is so much fun. I sang Valerie by Amy Winehouse for an audition in chorus (RIP Ms. Winehouse. You will be missed).

On Halloween my school had this 2 week mini semester for my grade called "Facing History and Ourselves". I loved it. It was a really good experience and I learned a lot. We learned about The Holocaust, The Civil Rights Movement, and basically man's inhumanity to man". Instead of having regular classes, we had 3 out of the 4 periods a day made into lectures. he other periods would be PE and Math. You stayed with one lecture group for the whole 2 weeks. We read a book called "The Messenger" by Lois Lowry. Which is a companion to "The Giver" and "Gathering Blue". Two books that I LOVE. We watched a lot of movies. Some ridiculous (The Wave) and some I loved (Freedom Writers and Swing Kids). We went to The Holocaust Memorial Museum and The MLJK memorial. That was really fun. The Holocaust museum made me cry. Hitler was a cruel, cruel man. We also went to a Blacks In Wax Museum. It made me cry because there was this one room on slave ships and what the owners would do to them. WHY IS HUMANITY SO CRUEL? But my favourite part was meeting Mr. Leo Bretholz. He is a Holocaust survivor. Meeting him and seeing him give a lecture telling his story on how he survived and how he was on the run for 7 years, was absolutely amazing. That man had to go though everything I saw in that museum. His family was killed, he was put in fatal conditions. he was funny too. He made jokes. He was pretty cool for a 90 year-old. I guess I shouldn't complain the next time somebody forgot to turn the AC on leaving me in the heat. It's nothing compared to what he went through. He has a book called "Leap Into Darkness" Which I really want to read. We also heard a lecture from people from the NAACP. My former teacher was actually a participant of the Civil Rights Movement when she was in Dallas back in the 60s. She marched with signs and everything. At the end of the two weeks, all the seminar groups made little presentations of what we learned. We had to decorate a letter to make a sign that says 'Let's Give Peace A Chance". People had skits and performances. My group made a speech while me and two other girls hummed "We Are The World." Then Zuri and I sang "Lean On Me'. There's something about singing on stage in front of your whole grade that gets to a person. I LOVE that feeling. I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't like how people complimented my singing. I like compliments. They're nice and they make me feel more loved...idk. I just wish we had FHAO again. It was really fun.

For my best friend's (JAZMIN!/Jazzy/Pammy/Pamela/Red/Ivy/Shay/Shayera) birthday (5 November), I drew her a picture of Rainbow Dash (have I mentioned that I now have an obsession with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic?), a chibi Kid Flash, and a copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire that I wrapped in red and yellow yarn. Which,if you think about it symbolizes something. Red and Yellow--Flash and Kid Flash colours, AND the colours of Gryffindor house!(We're both Gryffindors)

Chalant (If you get this reference/ship, I will share the Nutella that's beside me right now) <3333

Now, I'm supposed to be reading a book called "A Tale Of Two Cities" by one, Mr. Charles Dickens. I'm just gonna come right out and say this...I HATE THIS BOOK. I'm reading it for English class and I hate it. It's so frustrating and hard to understand. Old English? Yeah, no thanks. I have to go on SparkNotes instead. (as I said, I'm lazy) My teacher actually knows that half of my class isn’t reading the book and just goes on SparkNotes instead. she’ll be like,”The wine spilling symbolizes blood. They said that in the book. I bet you SparkNotes didn’t say that” I think it did actually.

So instead of reading that book, I'm here writing this, with SparkNotes and Tumblr open on other tabs while waiting for my nail polish to dry.

The people on my lunch table decided that we would have rainbow nails. Like one person has red, then another has orange, then another has yellow, and so on... Since there are 8 people all together in my lunch table and 7 colours, we're doing the cloud as well. I'm gonna be the cloud with white nail polish since people already took red and blue, and those are the only colours of the rainbow I have in good nail polish brands. I usually don't like white nail polish, idk why, but I just don't. My favourite nail polishes are:
Sidewalkers by NYC Color
[Black] Blasted by OPI
Leaf Him At The Altar by Sephora by OPI
One point during the summer, I had all 3 of those colours on :)

My grandparents from the Philippines are currently staying with us. This is great because the last time I saw them, I was 7. They also brought back goodies from the Philippines (foods, candies, t-shirts with swag, more superhero swag). I use swag as cool, Something We Asians Got and Stuff We All Get (credit to Michael Scott...who I miss so much)

Also I cut my hair. It used to be down to, like my mid-back, now it's shoulder length. I cut off about a foot. I haven't had my hair this short since 2nd grade. This feels awesome!

So yeah, until next time,
xoxo,
Micah :)

School Girl Crush

This is a mini-post about my life.

It was my spring vocal music concert. We were the second ensemble to go on and we were all waiting in a classroom for like 30 minutes. My friend told me that this guy I like had pretty eyes and everybody was all like “oh he does. They’re like hazel or something.” then this girl was like “no they’re brown!” Then they call him over so they could found out what colour it was. They were like “Micah, look at they, they’re gorgeous!” then I did. They were hazel then I asked him, “do a lot of girls tell you that your eyes are pretty and look at them?” “a few.” And then I sat next to him for the rest of the time.

I don’t know why I felt like telling this, but I’ve had a crush on this guy for 2 years. This is the first time I’d ever talked to him and I’ve been standing beside him for every vocal music concert we’ve had. So fun :) Oh and I stole sushi from him earlier this year.

I’ll probably never speak to him ever again :)

Booster, Fronteirland, and The Impossible Astronaut!

SMALLVILLE! SUPERNATURAL! DOCTOR WHO! Three of my favourite TV shows had new episodes. And Doctor Who just started its 6th series! May all my weekends be filled with scifi. So here is a review/reaction thing to those episodes.

Smallville: "Booster"
I really liked this episode overall. Clark was in his disguise! ASDFGHJKL; The glasses. The trench coat. hnnng. Stuttering, klutzy Clark Kent was sexy. Ok, so Booster Gold, he was an ass. I love Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle was amazing. The costume was gorgeous while Booster Gold's looked like a nascar car. He reminded me a lot of Johnny Storm. If he didn't annoy me enough, Cat Grant. Cat what are you, 11 "I saw him first". Who cares? Clearly, Lois is the better reporter. That's why SHE got the promotion not your annoying ass. But I did end up hating her less by the end of the episode. She believed in The Blur and made Blur cookies. Awww. I wanted one of those. I will miss Lois across Clark. I just really don't like how it's Cat who's replacing her. Booster Gold's tremendous ego annoyed me Boo$ter? Boy, you ain't Ke$ha. And your dancers. Cat in that outfit lived up to Comic book!Cat. HORRIBLE. Can you say slut? My favourite part was when Clark was changing in the phone booth. I started crying. It's a great part of the mythology that has made its way on to Smallville. I also really liked when Clark was all awkward. I also like The Blur ad covering over the Booster Gold one. I also like Lois giving advice. I take advice from her. She gives good advice. I still don't like Booster Gold, but I really want that t-shirt. I love Lois wearing the glasses. She looks adorable. The ending made me so happy because Clois is my OTP. I miss Tess and Chloe and Oliver. Next week, Oliver and Zod and the Phantom Zone and gahhhhhh!! I can't wait!!!

Supernatural: Fronteirland
I liked this episode and like how it tied in with the Big Bad. The Phoenix ashes can kill Eve. I didn't like Rachel and she was the shortest lived female character on the show. She didn't even last half the episode. Again, Castiel scared me so much. Rachel lying dead there was horrible, but it was beautiful with the wings. This episode was so quality. The intro! "Is it customary to wear a blanket?" DEAN IS A TREKKIE! "giant with a magic brick" Darla GTFO. Samuel Colt, original BAMF. I loved Dean's face when he took off his zarape. Also he has a western fetish and he likes Clint Eastwood. Marshall Clint Eastwood. It was hilarious. Sheriff!Dean. Me gusta. Cas touching Bobby's soul gutted me. I hate seeing Bobby tortured. I thought the Phoenix thing was brilliant. 'YIPPEE KAI AYE, MOTHER-" ha. I love Dean so much. I love that gun so much. THEY GOT THE ASHES! "So I didn't get a soulonoscapy for nothing" Next week, Eve, finally and she can shape shift. Julia Maxwell is stunning.

Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut
This episode confused me so much. I was lost like in the first 10 minutes. The Doctor died and then he I think trusted himself the most so it's like his double but 200 years ago? WHAT? The astronaut! omg. Mark Sheppard!! They played Adele in the diner. Amy's preggo! The Silence scared me so much. What if I saw The Silence IRL and didn't remember? That got me paranoid. hey, at least they can dress themselves. The Silence scared me in the level of as the Weeping Angels. The Doctor just standing there taking notes. Stenton! Why River?? And where is his fez? I miss his fez! I hate cliff hanger episodes! Urghhhh! Not much to say because I really didn't understand it, so I think I'm gonna have to watch it again.

3 more episodes till the Smallville finale. THE PROMO THEY PLAYED WITH LEX! OH MY GOODNESS! I MISSED THAT EVIL BALD BASTARD!!! I also read this thing in Yahoo, i'm not sure if it's accurate, but they said that there is a possibility that we will see the Clois wedding. There better be a Clark-Lex battle and I wanna see Tom in that suit. It's not a finale without a Clark-Lex battle and Tom in a suit. I just really wanna see that Clois wedding!!

xoxo,
Micah :)

Smallville "Kent" and Supernatural "My Heart Will Go On" reaction

If you're following me on any other social networking site, you would know that 2 of my favourite TV shows are Smallville and Supernatural. Which are both in the science fiction genre. I love science fiction & fantasy. Being able to open your mind to things out of the ordinary.

Every Friday, on the CW, they play Smallville and Supernatural. I'm not sure about for next year, sine it's Smallville's last season. 10 seasons, wow! And I have seen every single episode aired to date. I love that show like I love Harry Potter. If you know me IRL, you know that's a lot of love. Supernatural on the other hand, I love that show a lot, but I don't love it in a level as much as Smallville and Supernatural. I liked the earlier seasons better. Season 6 is doing good so far, the meta episode, "The French Mistake" and "Like A Virgin" won me over for deciding whether I like this season or not. I really hated how they introduced the big bad of the season, The Mother Of All Monsters so late. I felt like the season was more filler, than plot. I know many people prefer Smallville's earlier stuff because it's gotten "too dramatic" but I prefer these later ones. Mostly because I CAN NOT stand Lana Lang whatsoever. I love Lois Lane and Clois and I hate Clana or Lexana. Even though I do like Lex Luthor. It kind of made it hard to keep watching after Jonathan died and Martha left to go to Washington, but then they introduce Kara Kent/Supergirl, I just had to keep watching. Then they had Doomsday, General Zod, The Legion of Superheroes, Justice Society of America, Zatanna, a new character Tess Mercer, Jimmy Olsen, so much more people from the mythology, my nerd heart almost exploded.

On to my review/reaction thing:

"Kent"
I was never really a big fan of the Alternate Universe and Ultraman, but hot damn, Clark Luthor is sexy. That smirk, hnnng. Another reason I don't like AU is because Oliver died and married Lois. I am a big Clois and Chlollie shipper so I really don't like this. I shipped them in Season 6, but that's in the past now. Also, Clark isn't a Kent, Martha and Jonathan are separated and I do not ship Cless. One thing I do like about it is that Jonathan is alive. You have no idea how much I missed Pa Kent. AU!Clark, didn't care about regular!Clark's telescope so that threw Lois off. Again, I DO NOT SHIP CLESS! It took me a while to find out who "CL" was. I was watching it thinking, "CL? Who is CL? No that's not Oliver Queen, he's in Star City, what are you talking about? His initials are OQ and he likes Chloe. What if it was Chloe. Wait no, she's CS" Then it hit me, Clark Luthor. Wow, I'm stupid. And the other time, I was thinking, "hot damn, Tess looks sexy. So does Lois. Where's Oliver and Chloe? I miss them! Oh look, Emil! Hey Emil! What happened to the lemur? I liked that lemur!" I ship Clemur. I ship Temil. I wasn't really happy about the fact that Clark was going to sell the farm to live in an apartment in Metropolis. I mean the show is called SMALLVILLE and we barely see Smallville now a days. I have loved that farm since the very beginning, sell it to me! Even though I really don't need a farm. I just want to hold on to old memories. I love that farm so much. I liked the ending where Jonathan went to visit Martha in AU world. That was sweet. You know what is sweeter? When Lois said that Smallville was her home, she didn't mean Smallville, the town, but Smallville, Smallville, Clark. I actually started crying. I miss when she called Clark Smallville. But anyway, it's just another step into the mythology. I better see Tom Welling wear that suit in the finale or I will cry. And/or a Clois wedding. We got to see Jimmy and Chloe get married, we saw multiple Lex weddings and don't really have footage of the Chlollie wedding but they just a loped in Metropolis while they were drunk. Well at least they got married to the right person. Wait, why hasn't Clarkie been wearing the glasses--his disguise. Next episode, we get to see Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, and Clark in his disguise, finally. I CAN'T WAIT. Booster Gold is an ass. Why is Cat Grant back? She is so annoying, my god.

"My Heart Will Go On"
BALTHAZAR! YOU CAN'T JUST UNSINK THE TITANIC JUST BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE MOVIE! No My Heart Will Go On? No Impala? What is this fuckery? Get rid of the whore car, the Impala is my baby. Also, Cas, do not lie to your boyfriend. Lying isn't good. Cas you were scaring me that episode. Don't every do that again, bb. "Angel in the dirty trench coat who's in love with you" BEST LINE EVER!!! MY DESTIEL SHIPPING HEART CAN NOT HANDLE THIS!!! Fate was a BITCH. I hated her. I really liked how Ellen was back. I really like Ellen. Jo, she's ok, she's not my favourite, though. Ellen and Bobby were married! I love them together! It was so heart breaking that once they resunk the ship, Ellen and Jo had to go back to being dead. And Bobby was alone again. DEAN WINCHESTER FINALLY WON A GAME OF ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS!! I felt like they were doing a Final Destination like thing. With the garage door decapitation, the scarf in the copy machine suffocation and the dude who got hit by a bus. Very Regina George like. Their faces were so derp worthy in this episode. I really liked the part when Cas took them to white Russia. Also when Balthazar popped up almost stabbing Fate saying, "awkward." I loved how they played Blondie's "One Way Or Another" while they were paranoid and going through all those dangerous things that can kill you. Again, Fate strikes when you least expect it. I like how in the end Cas was wearing his ties backwards and when Sam and Dean woke up in the Impala (hallelujah!), My Heart Will Go On was playing. I LOVE THAT SONG! And Titanic is one of my favourite movies. I will never forgive Rose. "Never let go" my ass. Why couldn't you scoot over to make some room for Jack? That simple. I almost cried teared up when Dean was taking care of Bobby. Next episode, stentons and time travel. I get two days of stentons and time travel in a row because Doctor Who comes back on on Saturday. Stentons and time travel these 2 episodes! I can't wait!!

Smallville, I will miss you when you are done. 4 more episodes left, I can't take this. First Harry Potter, now you're ending. I can't take this. Supernatural, I really hope that you have a season 7! I'll still be watching. I can't wait for new episodes and the new season of Doctor Who.

A lot has changed about my opinion of Doctor Who from the beginning of series 5. I actually like Matt Smith and Amy Pond now. I love the intro and the intro music. I like the sonic screwdriver, the logo--I love it,and I'm still getting used to the new TARDIS.

xoxo,
Micah :)

Wanting to be popular sucks especially if you were in elementary school

It's 2011! Happy new year blog readers!

Let's kick off my first post of the year with a story/rant thing! Let's go!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone was release in the UK in 4 November 2001 and released in the US in 16 November 2001. It was about a boy named Harry who discovered that he was a wizard. Then he goes to this magical school called Hogwarts and finds out that Voldemort wants to kill him. And I think we all know this story. I had no idea when I was little that my love for this series would grow in to this big thing. The idea of magic and mythical creatures blew away my head. 10 years later, I'm still amazed. That scene on privet drive-I had no idea that that was the beginning of what helped to form what I have become today. I wonder what would have happened if my parents never took their daughter to see that film. What would happen if I never say Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?

Let me tell you a little story. It was 2005-2006-ish, my mom just bought the DVD for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I saw the last 3 films and I clearly remember seeing Prisoner of Azkaban and my sister fell asleep right beside me. So being a fan, I told my mom that I would watch it. Fast forward to school. 5 years ago, I remember having a few friends and this girl would bully me because I would do all my homework and I was in advanced classes. I was talking about Harry Potter with this girl and the bully, we'll call her, Klash(?), came up to us and said "you know, if you want to be cool when you get older, you have to stop watching those boring shitty movies. Now, Micah, see, this is why, (we'll call this girl Shemster) Shmester is your only friend." OK, hold on for a second. Who in the right mind would teach a me how to say shitty or any curse word for that matter? She also bragged about how cool she is because she watches MTV, reality check, Klash, that DOESN'T make you cool! Any way she kept telling me that and then it somehow dug into my brain that the only way you can make friends is to watch MTV and not watch long movies and not to read books. I still secretly loved it though. Which I look back on now and realize how stupid that is. You know what? Klash, you owe an elementary life where I dressed around in robes and used my pencil as a wand yelling "EXPELLIARMUS!" I will never forgive you.

So I avoided Harry Potter movies because she says they're for losers who don't have friends. I spent my time watching Laguna Beach and The Hills. /facepalm. Then when my school did this dress up like a character from a book day thing, I dressed up as Hermione and she was like "really? what is wrong with you? This is why you'll never get a boyfriend" YOU ARE YOUNG AND YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND? WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? For some reason it made me upset and I took off my Hermione costume and went as Junie B. Jones instead.

Then 2 years later, there was this dude who was a big Harry Potter fan and he checked out Goblet of Fire from the school library. With Klashley sitting next to me, I had to pretend like I didn't care about the book, I even said "Hermione's not blonde! Who is that girl?" I knew that wasn't Hermione. It was Fleur Delacour. Later that year, I got bullied so bad that nobody even talked to me. Like NOBODY. Everybody was so scared that if they talk to me, they'll be a "loser" too. YOU KNOW WHAT? BEING A "LOSER" WAS WAY MORE FUN THAN BEING A SELF CONCEITED BITCH WITH AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM WHOSE SOLE PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO HUMILIATE PEOPLE SMARTER THAN YOU AND BE ON MY SUPER SWEET 16!

So in 2009, Half-Blood Prince came out and I saw it. My sisters didn't want to, but I made them. Then I remembered how much I loved it! The magic. it was like I was a little girl again. Not having seen the past 2, I was lost. But I went home and watched Goblet of Fire before that. I got a Barnes & Noble gift card for my birthday that year so I got a Harry Potter picture book, Deathly Hallows and Order of the Phoenix. My mom bought Half-Blood Prince when it just came out. The book. In 2005. Then I went on youtube and found Chamber of Secrets on there and watched the entire thing. Then my mom found a copy of Sorcerer's Stone in a garage sale and I watched it immediately! I also bought a Ron Weasley shirt from Hot Topic right after I saw the movie because I have a massive crush on Rupert Grint. Then I went to target and bought Order of the Phoenix on DVD. I watched it religiously when I got home from school. The same thing with Goblet of Fire and Sorcerer's Stone. Then I watched the 2nd and 3rd one during ABC Family's Harry Potter weekend marathon. I love ABC Family for doing that. And fast forward to today. I read all 7 books, at least 7 times each, know all of the movies by heart (except DH), seen Deathly Hallows opening day, been to the Harry Potter theme park, tried butterbeer, bought a wand, bought a scraf, explored through Hogwarts, met amazing people, joined the fandom, have an extensive knowledge on the entire Potterverse, known as "The Harry Potter girl" in school, and will be crying when Deathly Hallows part 2 comes out in July 15. It also got me into reading more and more books, writing, it boosted up my self-esteem levels, I don't care what anybody thinks about me, and most of all, it made me meet my best friend, Beth (actually her name is Jazmin, but it's sort of an inside joke about a fan fiction). I am very deep into the fandom that I feel like I've been in it my whole entire life.

I honestly did not think that this one series could impact my life so much. Even though it doesn't seem like it does by this post. If you know me IRL, then you would see. Oh and did I mention that I used to be a Twitard due to peer pressure. NOT GOOD.

xoxo,
Micah <3

SCHOOL

I never did a back-to-school post. Here it is.

I never really enjoyed school. Mainly because I'm lazy. Just because I'm lazy, that doesn't mean i don't get good grades. I do actually. I just don't like the fact that since I attend a public school, we have to wear a uniform. I just miss back-to-school clothes shopping. Oh well, i guess i'll just have to wait until I graduated.

My Classes:
I like my schedule this year.
1A-Science
2A-World Cultures/History
3-Spanish
4A-Health/PE
1B- Chorus
2B- English/Language Arts
4B- Math

OK I suck at Math. I'm happy cuz its on 4th period because it's the shortest since it's the last class of the day. And my locker is near the library :D My science/homeroom class is crazy. NOT KIDDING. We got kinds throwing stuff at each other. One guy named justin almost hit me with a chair. (:/) It has people I like. a girl I hate, because she's so annoying and a few people I really don't mind. I don't like the class itself because I'm not good at science. My History class is fun. It has awesome, crazy people in it and my teacher is hilarious. Spanish had always been one of my favorite subjects. I don't know why, Maybe all that time watching Dora:the Explorer as a little kid finally payed off. My friend Royce & Jazmin is in that class. YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Oh and I also like that class because it's lunch period. :P I'm starting to like Health/PE. I learned that i'm good at writing long essays and I am good at soccer. CHORUS=FUNNEST SUBJECT EVER!!! I just love it. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to sing. (maybe that's why I love Broadway and one of my favorite TV shows is Glee). It has awesome people in it. My friends Claire, Solape, Cathlin & Charnae are in it. :D English class is awesome. I love the books we read. I had the same teacher I had last year. i can't wait to read Shakespeare!! (NERD ALERT)

Yah that's basically my reaction this past month and a half. Maybe it will change by the next post. I might do a BEDA or VEDA sometime in the future so keep an eye out for that :D
Until next time,
xoxo,
Micah
